READER’S REVIEW:
(rated four out of five stars)
‘This is a fancy gallery book from an exhibit that just closed in Paris. Not that many objects in the show but they're pretty spectacular; . . . The text in the main part of the book is French so forget that but there is a smaller English section in the back . . . Finished but only semi-read as the descriptions of the items are so minute in detail and interesting mainly for scholars of the subject matter. The pictures are excellent of course.’

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Marie-Amelié Carlier is a French art dealer who operates the Brimo de Laroussilhe gallery in Paris.

Marie-Amelié Carlier:
'Medieval art which, alongside the art of the Renaissance, is the specialty of the Brimo de Laroussilhe house, is undoubtedly one of the less visible domains of the art market.
An art reserved for connoisseurs, the need for research to better apprehend these works, and especially the great rarity of high quality pieces are all arguments generally cited to justify the somewhat secretive side that surrounds this market. For my part, I think that it is by dint of seeing works that our taste is formed, that our eye and our sensitivity are refined.
To show, to provide the first explanations of these pieces and sometimes to try to direct the gaze of the amateur towards the subtlety of the presented work, that is the aim of this catalog and which, I hope, it will achieve.'

BRIMO DE LAROUSSILHE
7 Quai Voltaire, 75007, Paris
The gallery Brimo de Laroussilhe, specializing in Medieval and Renaissance art, opened in Paris in 1908, providing private collectors and major American and European museums with masterpieces such as early Limoges enamels, Gothic ivories, Romanesque and Gothic sculptures and works of art. Marie-Amelié Carlier, who holds a degree of Art History at the Sorbonne, joined her father in 2002 and has run the gallery since 2010. A renowned specialist in Medieval art, she has expanded the gallery’s specialties to the Italian and northern Renaissance.

L'EXAMEN DU LECTEUR:
