Microsoft Encarta 96 Encyclopedia is the interactive, multimedia encyclopedia that turns your computer into a rich resource for information, education, and entertainment. This new version of Encarta Encycloopedia contains many new articles, media, and InterActivities, as well as research tools, the Timeline of World History, the Atlas, the MindMaze game, and Yearbook Builder, with which you can use a modem to update encyclopedia articles.
This CD will run on just about any windows computer.
•A multimedia PC that includes a 486SX or higer processor (386DX minimum), 8 MB of RAM (6 MB minimum), a CD-ROM drive, an audio board, 256-color or better display, headphones or speakers, and a Microsoft Mouse or compatible pointing device.
•Microsoft Windows operating system version 3.1 or later with MS-DOS operating system version 3.1 or later or Windows 95 operating system orWindows NT Workstation operating system 3.51 or later.
•Hard-disk space: For Windows 3.1, 11 MB (4.5 minimum); for Windows 95, 9 MB (2 MB minimum).
Programs written several years ago were not designed to take advantage of the graphics and processing power of the most updated machines. More recent operating environments may use one of the following options:

◦XP emulation (Free Microsoft download for Windows 7 Professional & Ultimate)
◦Dosbox (A free download that allows you to emulate a Dos environment on your Window's machine).
