NCIDQ exams focus on similar areas, so completing an actual NCIDQ practice exam is CRITICAL for effective studying for the exam.
Simulate the exam using the provided instructions in the booklet; including general exercise instructions, which exercises are for the morning and afternoon, and the suggested time to complete.
**EXPERT PRACTICUM PRACTICE TIPS**:
-In October of 2017, CIDQ introduces the newest format of the practicum, Prac 2.0. An NCIDQ candidate should take the sample exam available from NCIDQ to become familiar with the new format. Nonetheless, PRAC 2.0 has been developed so that the content areas being tested are very similar to the soon to be retired paper and pencil exam. Being well versed using proven paper and pencil practice methods is the best process (especially given the current situation). Just be sure to get a copy of the updated codes from NCIDQ. Compare the IDFX and IDPX exams which both transitioned to computer delivery a few years ago. Much of the same material in paper format is used successfully by many designers to study for the computer-based IDFX and IDPX. Because the NCIDQ is so broad-based in content, using multiple quality methods to study helps lead to success.
-Books and design problems from authors like Ballast are great for IDFX and IDPX, while somewhat helpful for Practicum.
However, these PDP sheets from NCIDQ are ESSENTIAL preparation as they are ACTUAL prior exam problems. These practicum exercises give you much needed practice applying codes to practicum problems.
No other study materials are closer to the actual exam!
-Therefore, almost every Practicum study group or class uses these PDP materials.
-Most candidates practice using two or more separate PDPs.
(at least one with a commercial space planning exercise and another with residential space planning exercise)
